The Village of Honeoye Falls and the Town of Mendon Consider Multi-Use Trail Options
The Village of Honeoye Falls and Town of Mendon held a Public Meeting on November 17, 2009 to review the concept of a multi-use trail connecting the Village with the main line of the Lehigh Valley Trail. The Lehigh Valley Rail-to-Trail Feasibility Study is nearing completion, and the Town and Village wish to gather additional feedback on the preferred trail alignment identified in the Draft Study.
The Town's Comprehensive Plan, the recently completed Honeoye Creek Greenway Strategy, and the 2008 Town and Village Parks Survey all recommend improving trails and other recreational opportunities as well as improved access to Honeoye Creek. This Feasibility Study explores the viability of a multi-use trail using the former Lehigh Valley Railroad bed, or alternate routes in the vicinity of the rail line, with consideration given to design recommendations, connecting destinations, funding sources, and phasing strategies.
